Best environment

A place with excellent lighting, non-slippery, well ventilated environment would be best. Make sure that the air-condition is off as exposing the child to cold temperatures would cause shivering, thus putting the child at great risk of hypothermia

Make sure eveything is prepared and are near you when bathing the child. this is more conveninent and it prevents leaving the child or risk of fall.

Bathing Process

1. Test water temperature with your elbow
2. Remove all linen except the shirt & diaper
3. Cover the child with towel
4. Clean child's eyes, using the sterile cotton balls moistenen with boiled cooled water. Wipe from inner to outer. Discard the cotton ball after each swap.
5. Wash child's face using a total of 8 cotton balls
6. When washing the ears & neck, Pay special to the folds as they are potential areas for fungal infections. Dry them thoroughly
7. Carry the child in a football hold when washing the child's hair. Wash & rinse in a circular motion. Take note of any abnormalities such as dents or cuts to the scalp.Dry the hair
8. Remove the shirt & diaper. Hold the child's ankles and lift up when clearning the diaper
9. if the diaper is soiled, use either the baby wipes or the soft tissue to clean
10. Carry the child to the bath tub. Slide one hand behind the child's neck, one hand behind the back. Cradle the child head and neck in your elbow
11. Slowly put the child into the tub
12. Wash child's body. Pay extra attention to the skin folds
13. Wash genital areas.

• Female: Separate the labia & cleanse downwards once on each side.
• Male:Do not force the foreskin back, gently cleanse the exposed area

14. Place the infant on a clean, dry towel.

15.Put on new diaper & new set of clothing
